Ma'at Codex is a reference tool for professionals who can't afford to be wrong. Ask a question in your field and it answers from authoritative sources — statutes, drug labels, scripture, tax code — and cites exactly where the answer came from.
Named for Ma'at, the ancient principle of truth and balance, it's built on one promise:

It grounds every answer in a source, or it tells you it can't. Ma'at Codex would rather say "I don't have authority for that" than guess. When it answers, you can check the citation yourself.

Open maat.surgexi.com (from the SurgeXi site, use Sign in). Enter the email and password your administrator gave you.

After signing in you arrive at your Home hub — your starting point for every tool.

Ma'at Codex is granted by your organization. If you need an account, use Request Access on the site and your SurgeXi contact will set you up.

Ask & Advise
Open Advise and type your question the way you'd ask a knowledgeable colleague — plain, specific language. Pick your domain packThe domain (Legal, Medical, Ministry, Accounting & Tax) tunes the answer to the right trusted sources. Choose it before you ask. so the answer draws on the right sources.
- Be specific. "Statute of limitations for breach of a written contract in California?" beats "contract limits."
- Name the jurisdiction or source when it matters. Ma'at Codex respects boundaries — it won't answer a California question with Texas law.
- One question at a time gives the cleanest, most checkable answer.
Understanding the response
Reading an answer
Every answer is designed to be checkable:
The answer, in plain language — with the key passage quoted verbatim from the source where precision matters.
- Citations — open any one to read the original source.
- Verbatim passages — quoted directly, not summarized, where it counts.
- "I can't answer that with authority" — if there's no grounded source, it says so rather than guessing. A clear "no" beats a confident wrong.

Is this like a chatbot?
No. A general chatbot will confidently make things up. Ma'at Codex only answers from real sources and shows them — and abstains when it can't.
Can I trust the citations?
Yes — that's the whole point. Every citation opens the original source so you can confirm it yourself.
What if it won't answer?
It doesn't have grounded authority for your question — often a jurisdiction or source boundary. Name the jurisdiction, or rephrase more specifically.
How do I check what's covered?
Open Coverage to see the sources and jurisdictions Ma'at Codex draws on.
Does it replace my professional judgment?
No. It's a tool to find and confirm authority quickly. The decision is always yours.
